For the best idea aimed at solving one of the ZeroLab UN Sustainability Goals
For the best idea designed to solve everyday's students problems using NFTs.
Projects with no scope boundaries. Get creative !
You may have specific expertise or a great idea that you always wanted to bring to life. The best teams are those made by people of different backgrounds and experiences because they can complement each other.
Everyone has heard of blockchain and cryptocurrency, but not everyone has built real projects. Do you have a great idea to bring to market?
We believe that being part of a community is the simplest way to solve world problems. We will host public meetups every Friday where you can meet similarly minded people. It is never too late to start a new team.
Your solution must incorporate the use of NFTs and must be built on top of the Algorand Blockchain Service. Don't worry, we will offer plenty of resources to learn.
Your solution must address one of the ZeroLab UN's sustainability goals, or be used in a school environment (for example, certificate tracking).
1) To raise awareness about the challenges the green industry is facing
2) To discover impactful solutions for current and future problems
3) To network with students, startups and organisations to pilot and scale solutions.
Saving the world is a challenge that belongs to everyone, but maybe not everyone knows where to start. The NFTs For Good Hackathon aims at providing a platform for learning about Blockchain technology and how this can help to solve Environmental Sustainability problems.
28 February - 1 May 2022
Prepare your submission
In order to be evaluated, you need to provide two things, a 3 minutes presentation and your codebase. Do not worry if your application is not looking at its best or it is a walking bug! We like ideas ! There is all the time in the world to create a great product!
Here some inspiration from some great startups ! https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/fake-dont-make-launch-learn-joost-van-de-velde/
Presentation
You are to create a 3 minutes presentation, you are not bound by the format, but you should take the following criteria into consideration, as every project will be evaluated against these.
Judging Criteria
Mission It is good to know who you are and what problem you are truing to solve! What does your idea try to do and how does that reflect on sustainability goals (if any are reflected). Should be short and concise and allow the public to understand quickly what it is that you do. Here some examples:
You can spend some time on this page to better explain why your mission is important, you may also provide the problem statement here or in a different page.
Solution
How does your solution reflect your mission statement and the problem ? Give us a slide (or 2) to quickly explain how everything works.
Novelty
Does your solution already exist? And if it does, what makes it different ? There is nothing wrong in reinventing the wheel when we talk about creating technological solutions, it is called competition, but why use yours ?
Feasibility / Business Model
Does your application have a business model ? How will it make money? Overall, we will access the technical feasibility.
Why Blockchain
Most ideas can be created in a centralized way, do you have a reason to use blockchain instead ? Remember that you may be asked this question later on. Although blockchain has many great advantages, it alsohas many drawbacks, such as cost per transaction and speed (when compared to a centralized system).
Pitch Template
We suggest that you use canva for the presentation, it is simple and it already has the ability to add videos easily. We prepared a template for you ! Do not edit this one, make a copy first ! https://www.canva.com/design/DAFAFgh6U-0/O8GRoD1u4yVb0NGuyRJEJw/edit?utm_content=DAFAFgh6U-0&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=sharebutton
Submission
Once ready, submit a link to your github repo (or anywhere you have placed your code) and generate a website (click on share and generate a website link)

The competition is open to all teams with at least a current or past Deakin Student or Staff. If you don't have Deakin member please talk to us. We will help you to find one.
